Evidence transforms cases from text descriptions into comprehensive knowledge records backed by tangible proof. Attach documents, images, and data files directly to your cases.

Supported File Types

FTS accepts a wide range of evidence formats:

Images

JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP (up to 50 MB each)

Documents

PDF, DOCX, XLSX, TXT (up to 100 MB each)

Logs & Data

CSV, JSON, LOG, XML (up to 100 MB each)

Media

MP4, MOV, WebM (up to 200 MB each)
Workspace storage limit: Your entire workspace has a default of 10 GB. Admins can request increases.
Sensitive data (personal information, credentials, API keys) must be redacted before uploading. FTS does not encrypt evidence at rest by default—treat all files as potentially accessible to workspace members.

Uploading Evidence

From any case view:
  1. Click the + Add Evidence button
  2. Drag and drop files or click to browse your computer
  3. Add a caption describing what the file shows (optional but recommended)
  4. Choose visibility:
    • All members: Anyone in the workspace can see
    • Reviewers only: Only assigned reviewers and case owner
  5. Click Upload
Multiple files upload simultaneously. You’ll see a progress indicator for each.

Evidence Viewer

Click any evidence item to open the viewer:
  • Images: Zoom, pan, and download. Annotations appear as overlays.
  • PDFs: Page navigation, text search, and page-level annotations.
  • Logs/CSV: Formatted table view with syntax highlighting for logs.
  • Videos: Standard playback controls.
Use the viewer’s search function to find specific text in PDFs or logs. This is especially helpful for long technical logs.

Linking Evidence to Claims

Make evidence claims explicit by referencing file names in your case body:
The motor's bearing temperature reached 85°C (see thermal-image-001.jpg).
Error log shows repeated TimeoutException starting at 14:32 UTC (error-log-march-2026.txt).
Measurement data confirms the dimension variance (measurements.csv).
When reviewers read your case, they can jump directly to relevant evidence from these references.

Organizing Evidence

As you add multiple files:
  • Drag to reorder: Arrange evidence in logical sequence
  • Edit captions: Click the pencil icon to update descriptions
  • Download: Click the download icon for offline access
  • Remove: Click the trash icon to delete (cannot be undone)
Reviewers see all evidence and can request additional supporting files if claims lack proof. Evidence quality impacts whether cases move to Verified status.
When you search for a keyword, FTS indexes evidence filenames and captions. If you search “bearing failure” and a case has evidence captioned “Bearing failure thermal image,” that case will appear in results.
Currently, FTS does not perform optical character recognition (OCR) on images or full-text indexing of PDF content. Index your evidence by using clear filenames and captions.

Collaborative Review with Evidence

During review cycles, reviewers can:
  • Add comments tied to specific evidence items
  • Request clarification or additional supporting files
  • Annotate PDFs and images with feedback
All comments appear in the case activity log with timestamps.

Storage & Retention

  • Evidence files are retained as long as the case exists
  • Deleting a case removes all associated evidence
  • Deprecated cases retain their evidence for historical reference
  • Your workspace admin can view storage usage and request upgrades
